How I made it:
The film uses a technique called pixilation, which is animating with people in a stop motion manner, as well as the technique of multi-plane. The character on the left was shot first with a digital still camera, and then printed out frame by frame on transparencies. These were held up to the camera lens on a plate of glass while the second character was shot in the space reacting against thin air, creating the illusion that the two are interacting. Everything you see was composited in-camera, no digital effects were used.
